Frequently Asked Questions

What engineers and distributors ask most often before specifying the REA.

Explosion-proof lighting uses a certified enclosure or protection method to keep an ignition inside the equipment from reaching a surrounding explosive gas or vapour atmosphere. The term does not make a fixture suitable for every hazardous location. Under CEC Section 18, the exact product must match the documented Zone or Division, gas or dust group, surface-temperature limit, ambient range and wiring method.
