Lighting selected from the oil and gas classification drawing

Hazardous-location lighting for upstream, midstream and downstream project review

Lighting selected from the oil and gas classification drawing

well sites, compressor buildings, tank farms, loading areas and refineries can place classified and non-classified spaces only metres apart. The process and its classification documentation determine the fixture; the industry label does not.

CEC Section 18 governs documented hazardous-location classification; Section 20 adds prescribed requirements for certain fuel-distribution and storage occupancies. For each catalogue number, verify gas group, temperature marking, cold, corrosion, vibration and maintenance access, plus a certification mark from an accredited Canadian certification body and any special conditions.

LEDEX compares the project documentation against product markings and calculates a layout from the exact model's IES file. You receive a fixture schedule with the supporting product documentation your project professional and inspection authority will ask for.

Application Areas

Upstream / Exploration

Upstream / Exploration conditions vary by release source, ventilation and process. Use the authenticated classification and complete model marking to select lighting for this part of the facility.

Midstream / Transportation

Midstream / Transportation conditions vary by release source, ventilation and process. Use the authenticated classification and complete model marking to select lighting for this part of the facility.

Downstream / Refining

Downstream / Refining conditions vary by release source, ventilation and process. Use the authenticated classification and complete model marking to select lighting for this part of the facility.

Petrochemical

Petrochemical conditions vary by release source, ventilation and process. Use the authenticated classification and complete model marking to select lighting for this part of the facility.

Why LEDEX for Oil & Gas?

Classification-led selection

Candidate models are filtered by the documented Zone or Division, group, temperature and ambient range.

Model-specific records

We supply the certification record for the exact catalogue number and options, not a general family listing.

IES-based layout

The photometric model uses the project optics, mounting height and obstructions to predict fc/lux and uniformity.

Coordinated installation inputs

Mounting, wiring and gas group, temperature marking, cold, corrosion, vibration and maintenance access are recorded before quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What teams in this sector ask us most often.

CEC Section 18 governs documented hazardous-location classification; Section 20 adds prescribed requirements for certain fuel-distribution and storage occupancies. Ask for authenticated documentation showing boundaries, group and minimum ignition temperature; do not classify from a photograph or area name.

Build a review-ready oil and gas fixture schedule

Send the classification, site conditions and lighting targets for candidate models, available records and an IES-based layout.
