LEDEX

Canadian Alternative to Hazlux (ABB / Thomas & Betts)

Replacing a Hazlux (ABB / Thomas & Betts) fixture? This cross-reference identifies candidate LEDEX series. Send the existing model, classification, and mounting height; we will compare the marking, optics, mounting, and available photometric data.

How to substitute a Hazlux fixture

A Hazlux catalogue number encodes a classification, an output, an optic and a mount. A valid substitution reproduces each of those from the Canadian record of the LEDEX model, not from an equivalence table. This is the check we run before confirming a candidate series.

  1. 1

    Marking

Compare the Class, Division or Zone, the gas or dust group and the temperature code of the existing fixture with the marking of the exact LEDEX configuration. A C1D2 fixture does not replace a C1D1 one; Group D alone does not replace Group C.

  2. 2

    Output and photometrics

Compare delivered lumens at the real mounting height using the LEDEX model's IES file, not wattage. HID-to-LED replacements usually need fewer lumens for the same maintained illuminance.

  3. 3

    Optic and mount

Match the distribution (30° to 110° symmetric, Type I to IV) and the bracket: pendant, trunnion, stanchion, wall or stem. Existing conduit entries and seals often decide the choice.

  4. 4

    Record and schedule

Request the Canadian certification record for the complete LEDEX catalogue number, then write the full marking on the fixture schedule. The inspector compares markings, not series names.

LEDEX series are grouped by classification: Class 1 Division 1, Class 1 Division 2 and Class 2 Division 1.

LEDEX output by series

  • Jelly Jar LED Explosion Proof Low Bay & Area Light: 2,000–5,000 lm
  • VANGUARD: 6,000–9,000 lm
  • FORTRESS: 13,000–32,000 lm
  • TITAN: up to 60,000 lm (modular — two TITANs combined)
